After a hectic term 2, DBS has come out trumps after dancing at the Dubbo and Sydney annual Eisteddfods. All age groups competed at Dubbo Eisteddfod on the weekend of Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 June. We had a successful weekend competing against the region’s best dance schools. DBS’ 10yrs Contemporary group took out the award for ‘Best Junior Group’ with their routine ‘Classroom’ it scored a massive 90 marks.

The Open Contemporary’s performance of ‘On Again/Off Again’ took out ‘Best Senior Group’. This performance scored a huge 98 marks, as did the Open Jazz ‘JAM!’ and the Open Lyrical ‘The Eye of the Beholder’ scored 97!

Over all it was an extremely successful weekend that was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone!

3 days later the DBS Open Dreamteam travelled to Sydney to compete at McDonalds Sydney Eisteddfod. 2015 was an outstanding Sydney campaign. The team made reserve finalists in the Open Jazz section. The group also secured Highly Commendeds in the Open Hip-Hop and Musical Theatre section. The team took out a second place in the Open Lyrical section with a score of 92 marks. An outstanding effort by everyone.

The Open Lyrical team has been asked back to Sydney to perform as a Special Guest Artist at the 2015 McDonalds Ballet Scholarship and Open Jazz Finals which is being held at the Sydney Opera House on Sunday 2 August. It is such an honour to be asked back for the 5th year in a row to either compete or perform at such a prestigious event.
