10 & 12yrs Indian Bollywood Night
2015 sees DBS host the our first Global Fusion Nights. A series of nights held over term 2, that opens up the world and allows all our fusion students to learn more about the dance culture of which they are studying at the time.
10 and 12yrs were first off the rank on Friday 24 April. This year they are learning about ‘Bollywood’. The students finished up their regular Friday night classes and wrapped themselves in Sari’s and other Indian like clothing to get into the mood.
Butter chicken, rice and naan bread were on the menu! The first curry for many students. After dinner everyone settled in for an array of traditional Bollywood clips as well as what’s hot in the Bollywood world of today!
The clips wrapped up and we watched a short documentary ‘ Mystic India’ about an 11 year old boy who walked alone barefoot and bare body from 1792 – 1799. 7yrs and over 8000 miles through the length and breadth of India. Carrying no maps, no food and no clothing, how he crossed the roaring rivers, faced ferocious animals and survived the freezing winter of the Himalayas, is still a mystery. It is a story of struggle, of kindness and of courage even when face to face with a man-eating lion.
We had AMAZING feedback from both parents and students! Everyone enjoyed and couldn’t wait to discover more in their next Global Fusion class.
